JAMIE MILLER SHARES 'MAYBE NEXT TIME' FEAT YOUNG K OF DAY6
INTERNATIONAL pop music sensation Jamie Miller who came from humble beginnings in working-class Wales and rose to prominence as a singer-songwriter in 2017 recently shared a new version of his hit single “Maybe Next Time,” which has garnered over 10M+ global views/streams since release back in May.
The new version features an original verse by Young K, vocalist and bassist of South Korean band Day6 (JYP).
“The lyrics delve into the heartache we’ve all felt in one way or another – the longing for a love that’s just out of reach,” shares Jamie Miller to his fas with the belief that there’s always a chance for redemption and growth.
Miller hopes that next time is the time that all wil find what they are searching for.
"When Jamie reached out to me and asked if I'd be interested in collaborating, I was very grateful. “Then I heard the song, loved it, and I tried my version of the verse. I hope everyone enjoys our ‘Maybe Next Time,” , adds Young K (pix above).
For those who may not know well who is Jamie Miller, he was born and raised in Cardiff, residing with his parents and older sisters. Dad drove a cab, while mom worked as a cleaner.
Jamie embraced music wholeheartedly, dancing and singing constantly.
With various teachers applauding his talent, his mom insisted he attend theater school. Simultaneously, he listened to the likes of Adele, Bruno Mars, and Michael Jackson, developing a passion for soul, gospel, and R&B.
“It was an amazing childhood, and I wouldn’t change anything for the world,” he observes. “I had a family who believed in me way more than I believed in myself, so I wouldn’t be here without them.”
His family staunchly supported his dreams, but the same couldn’t be said for his classmates. He lived through bullying and the dead-end malaise of a small town in the countryside.
“During high school, it was embarrassing to say I was a musician,” he sighs. “It just wasn’t accepted. So, I kept quiet about it because the environment around me was so small-minded.”
Nevertheless, he put his head down and focused on music.
Jamie Miller’s voice might be the only thing more triumphant than his story. It carried him out of humble beginnings in working-class Wales and brought him around the world to the applause of millions with sustained success as a singer and songwriter.
“My goal is to be true and share my feelings,” he states. “I want to be an artist whose music lives on with fans in twenty years—not just now.”
For as towering as his vocal range may be, he’s also able to empathize with the intimacy of a lifelong friend.
Generating nearly half-a-billion streams and earning widespread acclaim from People, Billboard, The Huffington Post, and many others, he doesn’t disguise his emotions or ambitions on a series of 2023 singles for BMG and much more to come.
After an impressive turn on television, he achieved viral impact with a stirring cover of Adele’s “One and Only” shot in his living room.
This rendition exploded on Instagram after Khloe Kardashian shared it as a main post.
Praise from Sam Smith and P!nk followed as Jamie traded Wales for Los Angeles.
Gaining traction, he unveiled the Broken Memories EP in 2022 highlighted by the international smash “Here’s Your Perfect.”
The breakout anthem gathered over 1 billion streams across streaming platforms and counting.
People hailed him among “The Talented Emerging Artists Making Their Mark in 2022,” and American Songwriter attested, “His music not only has the power to help him work through his own feelings, but to articulate those of his listeners as well.”
Beyond supporting Calum Scott and Jesse McCartney on tour, he notably delivered a showstopping performance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
In the midst of this whirlwind, Jamie took a step back for nearly a year, realigned, and chose to share his story on his own terms.
“It was important to take the time to figure out what I wanted to do professionally and personally,” he says.
“When it comes to my music, I feel like listeners need to know everything. I’m going deeper emotionally. It’s important for everyone to see this side of me. I’m not afraid. This is my career, and I’m taking it in my hands. Everything is in my control. I’m not letting someone else tell my story for me—I’m telling it myself.”
Thus, he starts telling it on the soaring single “Maybe Next Time.”
In between sparse piano, he details the aftermath of a major disappointment.
Swept up in a gospel-style crescendo of heavenly harmonies, he projects an undeniable and unforgettable refrain, “Maybe next time I’ll be enough, you’ll give me everything instead of giving up.”
“I’ve been through a lot this year,” he admits adding on to say that, “This song is so personal to me..growing up, you always hear the phrase, ‘Maybe Next Time’. I was at a place in my life where I was asking, ‘Why not now?’ These days, people are so easy to quit on you, but you can’t give up or stop. Even though the song is sad, it feels uplifting since I’ve gotten to the light at the end of the tunnel. When you look back and realize how much you overcame, it’s empowering.”
In the end, everything Jamie’s gone through enables him to connect like never before.
“I’m the best version of myself that I’ve ever been,” he leaves off.
“I’m excited to live again, wake up, and start the day knowing I have a voice and what I say means something. I’ve learned It’s okay not to be okay. I’ve been there. I’m not scared of anything anymore. I’m just ready,” Jamie concluded.
