FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF THE OPPO RENO12 PRO: A LOANER THAT IMPRESSES!

AFTER attending numerous OPPO product launches, I finally had the opportunity to review one of their models, thanks to Jeremy from Verticle, the PR agency working with OPPO Malaysia. 

His WhatsApp message was straightforward: "Would you be interested in doing a full review of the new OPPO Reno12 Pro? We’ll be loaning you the unit for about 2-3 weeks." 

My initial reaction was to ask whether the review unit would be a keeper, as some other brands have done. 

However, Jeremy's response was as expected, "Unfortunately, we don’t have keeper units at the moment, but we’ll check with the team to see if that might be possible later on." 

Despite this, I eagerly accepted the offer, excited to review an OPPO product for the first time.

Having had the OPPO Reno12 Pro in my possession for a month, I can say it truly captures attention at first glance. The device’s Dual 50MP Cameras were naturally my primary focus, especially as someone who frequently attends events where high-quality photography is essential.

The Reno12 Pro is a beauty to behold, featuring a massive 6.7-inch AMOLED display within a slim, lightweight body. Its stylish design, particularly in the Nebula Silver color, evokes the luminescent quality of cosmic dust. Weighing just 180g with a thickness of 7.40mm, it feels incredibly comfortable in hand.

The inclusion of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, previously found exclusively on high-end flagship smartphones, adds an extra layer of durability, offering resistance to drops and bending. However, since this is a loaner unit, I haven’t dared to put that to the test!

As a first-time user of OPPO's Android devices, I was pleasantly surprised by the impressive AI-driven features offered by the Reno12 Pro. 

Among the standout innovations are AI LinkBoost and BeaconLink, technologies I had never encountered on any other smartphone.

The Reno12 Pro's AI capabilities are particularly noteworthy. The AI Clear Face feature enhances facial clarity, delivering more realistic and detailed portrait photos. 

Another key feature, AI Best Face, ensures that all subjects in a group photo have their eyes open, eliminating the frustration of mistimed blinks.

In addition to these, OPPO has updated its AI Eraser 2.0, which intelligently detects and removes unwanted elements from photos, offering users greater control over their images.

Reflecting on my experience, I really enjoyed using the AI Eraser feature, especially when removing unwanted faces from images directly on the screen.  It felt a bit playful, like a kid having fun haha but most of all its great for quickly removing unwanted elements from photos.

When it comes to quick sharing, the OPPO Reno12 Pro makes it effortless, allowing users to instantly transfer images to other Android devices via Bluetooth. So no worries there...

Moving forward, the OPPO Reno12 Pro’s impressive battery life and rapid 80W SUPERVOOC Flash Charging make it incredibly convenient for users with active lifestyles, allowing them to spend more time on the go and less time waiting for their phone to charge.

The Reno12 Pro’s performance, powered by the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy, seems very efficient.

This octa-core platform consists of four performance-focused A78 cores and four power-efficient A55 cores, delivering a perfect balance of power and battery conservation.

Features like CPU-Vita and RAM-Vita in the ColorOS Trinity Engine make multitasking smoother and keep apps running longer in the background.

Thanks to OPPO’s deep collaboration with MediaTek, the phones benefit from advancements in system-on-chip (SoC), memory, and storage through the latest ColorOS Trinity Engine. 

The updated CPU-Vita engine within the Trinity Engine uses AI models to recognize user scenarios and allocate SoC resources accurately, reducing power consumption while maintaining system stability and smooth performance.

The RAM-Vita engine further optimizes RAM usage, enhancing app launch speeds and transitions. It allows background apps to remain active for up to 72 hours without interruption. 

OPPO’s RAM Expansion technology converts up to 12GB of storage into temporary RAM, while the updated ROM-Vita engine performs lossless compression on rarely used apps and manages duplicate files, freeing up storage space and enhancing read/write speeds.
